iPhone Web Site I Am Legend MovieWarner Brothers is the first movie production company that has hopped on the customized iPhone web site bandwagon.  It is part of their online marketing plan for the upcoming “I Am Legend,” starring Will Smith.

The site, as pictured to the left, has several customized options for visitors.  The most interesting feature of the iPhone web site is the Daylight Meter.

The Daylight Meter button on the iPhone web site comes from the idea in the movie’s story line.  Will Smith’s character, a New York based scientist who happens to be the last human survivor after a highly infectious virus has turned everyone into night-walking zombie type mutants.  The Daylight Meter helps the scientist to count down the remaining hours of night so he can complete his tasks during the daytime hours.

Jenny Wall, Crew Creative president of interactive marketing, said that the iPhone is particularly suited as a promotional medium as it is a hot consumer electronic device.  “This film is about technology and takes place in the future, so this site really makes sense,” Wall said.

Now that one production company has put the iPhone into the spotlight as a marketing tool, it is just a matter of time before the other companies find out how to use it.  Using the cell phone in any online marketing plan may help to target the market that uses the iPhone. Via HollywoodReporter.
