Unix Based Darwin Foundation For Leopard Updated

Apple has released it’s underpinnings of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Darwin, as it is called, is now at version 9, and it happens to be open-source! It is also the BSD/Unix foundation of Tiger.

This version is built on the fully conformant UNIX operating system-built on Mac 3.0 and FreeBSD 5.This bundles over a hundred of the most popular Open Source products for programmers to use.

This give users the ability to shell out with bash, tcsh, ksh, and zsh. Users may also edit code with vim, nano, and emacs; and build project using gcc, autoconf, and make. Users can run X11 apps side-byside with other apps using X11R7 from X dot org.  Darwin is to become a popular open-source download for most programmers with an Intel Mac. Via Tuaw.
