Apple iPod 3rd Generation Has Video And Enhanced UIApple released a new iPod Nano during their September, 5th, “The Beat Goes On” event.  During the past few weeks, rumor photos of the Nano were all over the Internet, which were pulled off of sites very quickly.  Well, it seems that these pictures were close to the actual form factor of the new iPod Nano’s.  There are quite a few new specs on the iPod Nano 3rd generation.

The iPod Nano now features a 2-inch, QVGA 320 x 240 screen, a 65-percent brighter than previous versions and has the highest pixel density the company has ever shipped at 204 pixels per inch.

The new high pixel density, extra-wide screened iPod Nano will include an “enhanced” user interface and has its own model of Cover Flow.  An exciting benefit for new iPod Nano buyers will get three games, which include a circular-Arkanoid type game called Vortex.  The iTunes online music store will have more games that can be purchased as well.  The battery life on the new iPod Nano has been extended to 24 hours of audio playback and five hours of video.  The quoted playback time is dependent on many factors which could limit playback of video or audio by as much as an hour.

The 4GB version is on sale for $149 and is available in silver.  The 8GB model is on sale for $199.  Both versions of the iPod Nano should be available by this weekend. Via Apple.
