Apple has updated its iPhone cell phone firmware software to 1.1.1. Apple has released this to not only fix bugs, but to make it more difficult for users trying to hack their iPhones for use on other wireless networks. To upgrade the iPhone, plug it into the Mac or PC with its dock connector and iTunes will automatically launch. iTunes should say there is an upgrade to version 7.4.3. Once that is installed, iTunes will recognize the iPhone and then show the upgrade window. Users then have the option to download the iPhone software or to download and then install the firmware update.

The latest update has been optimized for the Safari web browser on the iPhone and iPod touch. The software is also ready for Mac OS X 10.5, the next in Apple’s operating systems.

Microsoft has announced Office 2008 for Mac OS X with three different versions and pricing. The three different versions are aimed at three different groups of buyers. The first, Microsoft Office 2008 for the Mac is a core version. The second is called Microsoft Office for the Mac Home and Student Edition and it is geared for the casual and student user. The third version is called Microsoft Office for Mac Special Media Edition, this one includes media pack software.

iPod Touch from Apple is the first iPod to include WiFi capability. Before the device was released, pictures were shown that included a Bluetooth connection icon on the top right corner of the screen next to the battery meter. Users were excited about the idea for using a Bluetooth headset to listen to music or sounds from the iPod Touch. Finally, the iPod Touch was released and a team from iFixit wanted to find out if there indeed was a Bluetooth chip inside of the device.
