AT&T is responding to potential and current iPhone customers. New details are emerging about the data side to the iPhone plan. AT&T is now offering an EDGE data-less iPhone plan. It’s in an effort to win over new customers for this holiday buying season. It is also an option for current customers to not jump cell phone carriers.
Once logged into the AT&T wireless account, the iPhone user has the option to remove the EDGE data plan. This is great news for those users who want to not only save $20 per month or $240 a year, but also utilize Wi-Fi connections at home, at their office and in other locations.
Visual voicemail depends on the cellular data connection so it too is also removed when opting out of the EDGE data plan. There could be a problem with high data overages when accidentally accessing Safari or other web software without the Wi-Fi connection enabled. Either way, it’s a step in the right direction for AT&T or any cell phone provider to at least listen to their customers. It seems that an alliance with Apple on the iPhone has given AT&T a chance to think differently. Via Tuaw.
