An early release of the iPhone and iPod Touch 2.0 firmware was a welcome sight this morning to anyone who hooked up their iPhone to iTunes. Not only was the MobileMe software released early from Apple but so was the new firmware.
The new 2.0 software will be avaible for a nominal price for the iPod Touch and free for everyone else. A word of warning whenever updating firmware, this software will erase the iPhone/iPod Touch in order to upgrade the unit. Normally, when you update the iPhone or iPod it will keep your settings and media intact. This means that iTunes will take extra time to backup your iPhone/iPod Touch and then copy back over the information.
iTunes 7.7 must be installed for the update to download. Be sure to have an equal amount of space on your computer for the media backup 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB if your iPhone/iPod Touch is full. Via Tuaw.
