Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard SoftwareApple is very excited to come out with sales numbers as quickly as possible to show that their somewhat rushed job to get Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard out has paid off.  It went on sale on October 26th at 6:00 pm which was this past Friday.

Sales numbers are often misleading so here is the skinny on what it includes.  The sales number includes software sold online, along with new Macs, retail stores, and copies through the Up-to-Date program.

Looking back on how well Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger sold is quite amazing.  It took Apple 6 weeks to announce from April 30th, 2005 at 6:00 pm to sell 2 million copies through it’s sales channels.  Online sales have increased so much over a two year period, plus all of the pre-sales done via Amazon.  This all renders sales numbers for the first day that much better.

Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard is already a run away hit for Apple. Via Tuaw.
