Skullcandy Push Wireless Earbuds Review
Truly wireless earbuds are the hottest type of headphones on the market today. The fruit company has popularized them to the point where people are looking beyond settling with bulky ear cups, long cables, no water resistance and low battery life. Skullycandy answered with Push wireless earbuds for an excellent $99, available now at Best Buy.

Skullcandy is all about enjoying audio technology in a bold way with color, fit, and a sound profile that you can feel. That is exactly what I experienced with the Push truly wireless earbuds. I have tried nearly a dozen wireless earbuds and these have some of the longest lasting rechargeable batteries.

Push earbuds are rated to last six hours, which is long enough to last on a flight across the US. Its charging case doubles that six hours to 12 hours after a full recharge, which takes about four hours. All of the cases for wireless earbuds that I have tested all came with a micro USB port. The case for these rechargeable headphones has the newer USB-C charging port.
Having a USB-C charging port lets me carry less gear when I travel. When I go on short two-day trips, I typically carry a camera, several rechargeable batteries, and wireless headphones. Before the Push earbuds, I would have to carry many charging cables too.
The other wireless earbuds are usually too small, don’t have water resistance, and are a boring color. As the saying goes, you can have any color as long as it is black. The Push truly wireless earphones from Skullcandy come in a bold green color, have IPX4 water resistance, and secure into the ears with FitFin gels.
The Push’s left earbud is the primary unit that communicates with the paired device and the right earbud. You can use the left earbud without the right, but the right has to be used with the left, as it’s the main control unit. When taking calls, audio is mono and will be coming from the left earbud.
Turning on the truly wireless earbuds are easy. Take both of them out of the charging case and they will automatically turn on. They will pair to themselves first and then connect to the main device after that. It all happens very quickly after the initial pairing.

Gels that come with other headphones and earbuds are made to fit in the ear and that’s it. However, with Skullcandy’s FitFin gels, they securely tuck into the ear. They certainly won’t fall out while running, or when turning your head too quickly. One of the best features of the Push is that they fit flat in the ear and don’t stick down like the AirPods.
Knowing how much to spend on wireless earbuds is not easy. Does spending $150, $175, or even $250 a good idea? From my tests with earphones in each of these pricing groups, the earbuds in the $100+ will yield the best features for the value. The Skullcandy Push feature set and quality is in line at $99.
They fit and are more secure than all of the earbuds that I have tested that are less than $75 and have features beyond those that cost $150. With everything considered, the Push is in a sweet spot of functionality and wireless audio technology.

Controlling the Skullcandy Push earbuds means more than pause and play. Two taps on the left adjusts volume down, two taps on the right adjust volume up, and a medium press of a button will activate a voice assistant. Using the voice assistant wasn’t the easiest, though with practice, it should get easier.
Wireless earbuds that are compatible with the iPhone and Android smartphones is also nice. Bluetooth 4.2 technology ensures that they will work seamlessly with both types of smartphones, which means that when you upgrade to a newer phone, you will still be able to use the Push earbuds.
Skullycandy truly wireless earbuds last long enough for cross country flights, produce a good amount of bass, and come with a charging case with six more hours of power. The Push’s buttons control more than other more expensive earbuds. Its Bluetooth wireless technology allows them to pair to a phone easily the first time. They come in a bold green and the value is right for the price.
